SamskritaM is an initiative of the Blossom Foundation. Learn one of the most ancient languages from the convenience of your home, and make your home a Sanskrit Home!
Sri M has said “Sanskrit is an ancient language and part of its origin is beyond this earth. It's not a religious language. It's a great language, ancient language, advanced language. We have unfortunately forgotten the language.”
We invite you to explore the world of this ancient language, glance into its numerous (about 2000!) verb roots, navigate conversing in the language, and get a glimpse into its vast vocabulary!
Why Sanskrit?
The word Devanagari means language of the Gods.
Sanskrit is said to be one of the world's oldest languages. All ancient Indian scriptures are in Sanskrit. The vedic hymns are in Sanskrit. Apart from this, many who speak in Sanskrit, talk about the “Sanskrit Effect”- an improvement in memory and thinking after studying and practicing the language.
The Main Objective of these classes ? to learn conversational Sanskrit and to generate adequate interest for the student to pursue the study of this language further.
Goal
In this journey of 20 classes, you will learn how to have a basic conversation in Sanskrit. We will work on vocabulary building and dwell into aspects of grammar like Lakara (tenses), usage of verbs. You will also learn about vibhakti and its usage in sentences. We will discuss how to tell time in Sanskrit, learn numbers and a few fun songs. We will learn how to formulate asking a question. We will learn how to describe the family. We will learn the concept of opposites. You will be introduced to the concept of plural words and the concept of gender in Sanskrit. Most importantly, the grammar is going to be integrated in conversation- thus making learning fun!
